Verse1. The seeking of the gold. The believer conscious of danger, trusting in God only for deliverance. Verses 2, 3. The possessing of the gol.d The believer looking for justification to the righteousness of God alone, while maintaining personal holiness by companionship with the saints. Verses 4, 5. The testing of the gold.

Now, it is usual when persons have anything to sell, to exhibit Ananiastried to be a Christian from the outside. He put the hands of the clock to the right time, but left the mainspring broken and the pendulum still. 1. We may imitate Christ, and yet not know Him after the spirit. 2. We may mingle with Christians, and yet know nothing of the spiritual power of Christianity. John13:1 . We shall consider these words first in their evident relation to the apostles, and those who were the companions of Jesus during his sojourn on earth, and afterwards we shall take them in their broader signification, as relating to all the Lord's own whom he loves and will love even to the end. "Having loved his own." Therestoration of the image of God in human beings—from earthly to heavenly—will be complete (1 Cor 15:45-49). The eternal inheritance of future blessings promised by God is secure because it is "kept in heaven" (1 Peter 1:4), and because believers are joint-heirs with Christ who has already been glorified (Rom 8:17).
