TX. Mar 7, 2020. #4. My wife has had an Edge with the 2.0 and currently drives an Edge with the 3.5. The 2.0 is not underpowered. It was faster and gets better fuel mileage. The 3.5 is smoother and feels more refined. It will move just fine, just takes a bit longer. S.
What it is: The Ford Explorer is a mid-size SUV with three rows of seats that can accommodate up to seven people. A 3.5-liter V-6 engine is standard, and a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder and Looking at getting a new F150 and I was wondering if anyone has experience with either the naturally aspirated 3.3 v6 or the Ecoboost 2.7? I realize there on the lower end of Ford's engine options, I'm on a recent graduate budget and I don't need THAT much of a truck. Just curious about the reliability, towing etc. My guess is that Ford knows what their engines are capable of and has them appropriately assigned to their vehicles. Explorer platinum/st now have the 3.0 where last generation had (a presumably detuned) 3.5L. If the 3.5 had any future in a smaller package than the F-150 or expedition they would’ve kept it. X1xJPC.
