need help fast battery 2006 530xi. Driving to work this morning, out in the middle of nowhere, I started getting warning lights on the dash: 4x4, abs, airbag, windows, steering, cruise control, etc. iDrive went off. Barely made it to the autozone in the next town before the car shut itself off. battery reads 9.5 volts.
sealbeach740. For the 2001 7 series, the battery in your key is charged as you drive. If you have 2 keys, take the working key with you to lock/unlock your car with the key remote, but use the key that won't lock/unlock your car to start & drive your car. Hopefully, if it isn't to badly discharged that driving your car with that key will charge
Update: I just picked up my new key from dealership and paired it with my car using the valet key. Regarding the battery, my original key battery lasted about 10 years. For the past 8 years, I have been soldering/de-soldering replacement batteries every 2 years. For some reason, the replacement battery doesn't last more than 2 years. 2006 E61 Diversity Antenna issues I started with the key fob battery and also ordered a new one from BMW Calgary ($184 Cdn). This did not help and consequently removed cleaned and replaced the Diversity Antenna Amp. Previously, the remote fobs would not function nor would the radio stations presets or the seat/mirror memory settings. ArOnP.
